Personal Profile

Song Lan, Ph.D., is currently a Lecturer and master student supervisor at Chongqing Jiaotong University in China. He also serves as the Director of Scientific Research office in Department of Materials Science and Engineering. He graduated in 2018 with a doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University in USA. He undertakes the roles of Thesis Review Expert for Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center in Ministry of Education of China, Youth Editorial Board Member for Journal of Magnetic Materials and Devices, Member for Expert Database of the Standardization Working Committee of China Association for International Economic and Technical Cooperation, Group Head of Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Commissioner Mission, Council Member of Chongqing Functional Materials Society, Member of Expert Committee on Electronic Information Materials and Devices for National Materials and Devices Scientists Think Tank, Member of Chinese Materials Research Society, Member of The Chinese Society of Rare Earths, Member of Chongqing Association for Science Popularization Research, Member of The 3rd Youth Committee of Overseas Chinese in Nan'an District of Chongqing. He has served as Session Chair of Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Soft Magnetic Materials for MMM 2020 International Academic Conference, Session Chair of Advanced Metallic Materials for 4th Western Materials Congress, Organizing Committee Member of Magnetic Materials and Devices Symposium for 2nd National Conference on Electronic Materials and Devices. 


His research interests are nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloys, soft magnetic ferrites, rare-earth-lean or rare-earth-free permanent magnet materials, and high-entropy oxides. The aim of his research focuses on the lightweighting, miniaturization, and high-frequency performance of power electronic equipment and devices. Currently, he is principal investigator for 3 projects funded by government, 2 projects by university and 2 projects by company. He has published 12 academic papers, co-authored 1 local standard, been granted 1 invention patent, and co-authored 1 book chapter. He has delivered more than twenty oral presentations at academic conferences. He also serves as peer reviewer for Physica Status Solidi A: Applications and Materials Science, AIP Advances, JOM, Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, and Journal of Magnetic Materials and Devices.


He has been awarded for Advanced Individual in International Student Education Work of 2023 by Chongqing Municipality, Second Prize of Chongqing Jiaotong University's First Hybrid Teaching Design Innovation Competition, Second Prize of Teaching Excellence Award in 2023 by Chongqing Jiaotong University, Second Prize of 7th Undergraduate Education Achievement Award by Chongqing Jiaotong University, and Course Leader of the approved Chongqing Municipal First-Class English-Taught Course for International Students. He has also supervised students to win Silver Award in Chongqing Division of 8th China International "Internet+" College Students Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition, and Third Prize of Scientific and Technological Innovation Group for 11th Chongqing "Yidu Saichuang Cup" Graduate Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
